For the guy who asked about doing a track day on a Sportster: I've seen a woman on a fully chromed Harley Vrod do a track day. She thought it helped her a lot.

People have different goals: some want to be racers and some just want to corner better. Track days can accomodate both goals.
And I agree with your statement. And stand by my statement as well.

me personally, i didnt buy a $8k machine just so i can take it to private property, pay $150 a day plus all other expenses, and wreck it. seems very expensive. i WISH i could afford it, but i cant. and even if i could, i have four kids at home so i dont have all this free time you guys have. i did a track day and had a friggin blast, but my bike will never see another track day. ill buy an old junker for that so that i can have some fun without being afraid of tearing it up. i bought my bike for the freedom of riding. to enjoy it. to ride with friends. to make new friends. not to have it sitting in the garage for 6 out of 7 days a week. im not trashing anyone by any means but i cant help but notice a bit of elitism coming from some. why cant yall just let it go? why does it matter if people do track or not?

the day i give up street riding is the day i flat line.

WHOOOT! Well said Mike!

You cannot make the assumption that no matter what, any person who has done a track day will be safer on the streets than someone who hasn't. I am not saying I have not done high speed on backroads, or that anyone is a terrible person for doing such.
I disagree. Track days are a training tool just like MSF. Much of what you learn can be applied to the streets for example keeping your vision up, looking down the road and through the turns; more effective braking; and learning to navigate corners more confidently to avoid the survival reaction of standing the bike up when the rider comes into a turn too fast.

Posing comes first. Less timing case damage from track riding.

correct me if i'm wrong, but is the only place you can learn these things is on the track? I'm pretty sure i knew all of these things from riding on the street... hmm...

and i still didn't get an answer from anybody about listing just one person that has done 60K miles on the track with only 1 minor accident. you are more likely to wreck your bike on the track than on the street. with that goes an insurance claim, and then more money for an insurance premium. show me a way to completely trash a bike on the track and not have to pay any extra, then I'll do another track day. anyone want to loan me a bike? ****if i wreck it, there will be no extra charge to me at all**** I'll just give you an "i'm sorry"

the 'busakilla' incident doesnt count because he was rear ended. it wasnt because of an error on his part.
