thanks yall. this thread is a good one to answer a lot of questions.

Ever since I got a streetbike I've wanted to get to a track even though its not a typical track-bike, I know it will still be awesome. The point about riding a bike in the environment for which it was designed is a great one. These things were BUILT for the track! Why not see how much fun they really are.

I've held off because I didnt nut up to get the leathers, boots, tires but I'm working on all that now and hope to be out there this weekend or on the 21st at the latest. see yall then. thanks for not bashing the noob and looking forward to meeting a lot of yall and making a bunch of new friends.

someone mentioned the corner workers mostly are there to take pics. Is that for the track business to sell back to the riders? If I come out there to work...can I shoot photos all day for my own?

Number 1 reason to do a trackday! It is the most FUN you can have on two wheels. That of course is my opinion!!

Other than that I am out of this thread. I absolutely hate the way every track day thread becomes a advertisment thread. Leave that out of the racers lounge and keep it in the site sponsers sections. That is what they are for!

Some orgs are more strict about shooting pics than others. Your #1 priority is the safety of the rider, not shooting pictures. As long as you take CW seriously, usually snapping some photos is not a problem.

Most orgs. also hire a pro photog to come out and take pix, so as an individual you may have to pull some strings to get to a corner. At most tracks there are decent places to get some shots if you have enough lens.

I agree. That's why my original posts mentioned site sponsors. Which would include the one you work for.

Wasn't gonna say it but since it seems this thread has lost all touch and will likely be locked soon, and I am not trying to personally call out anyone here. But it is funny to me that many of the people in here that seem to agree with this argument that track riding makes you "safer" on the street period, are some of the same people that do double, triple the limit on back roads. Seems to be there is nothing "safe" about doing that, no matter how many track days one has had.

yet another member suffering from "can't read-iritus"

i never said that doing a track day won't make you a better rider.

but doing a track day will not make you a safer rider on the street than any person who has not done a track day (which seems to be what so many are saying in this thread), and assuming such a thing is crazy.

not too mention i think there is some confusion in this thread when people are referring to riding on the street. there is a difference between riding around town at the posted limits and doing high speeds on backroads. yes the track will make you much faster so you can drag knee on the streets if that's what you think is approriate. but will track riding make you safer then every single other rider in town who hasn't done a track day just because you have done one, NO.

I plan on getting more involved in track days this year but it will be towards the end of the season Aug-Nov. In 2010, I plan on being a track .

What kept me from the track in the past was school, work and social life. Now that Ive been out of school for a year I have some free time.
