AMA/WSBK @ Miller

Anyone going, or thinking of going, to the WSBK and AMA races at Miller Motorsports Park at the end of May this year?

After having some of the experience dampened by Hurricane Ike for the Indy MotoGP I believe I have made my mind up to go see the WSBK races instead of the GP this year. I figure Utah might be fairly natural disaster free and would give a better chance of actually enjoying the races. I also think there might be a lot more racing with the AMA/WSBK ticket versus the GP race weekends with the 125/250/GP classes.

Just curious if anyone else has plans for this already...

As long as I can see the track and the races I can deal with the crowd for a little while.

I'm in the same boat. I had fun at Indy, but there seems to be more compelling racing in WSBK this season. I'm going to try to make it out. Also, since GP cut friday practice, the rookies cup (from Laguna), and no 250 or 125 their either, I just don't think that is enough to get me out there. I know the AMA's will be running, but I wanna see WSBK methinks.

To sum it up: I am currently looking at tickets and hotels.

Cool!

I will be making some plans tonight with a friend to decide if we will fly up just for the races or make a bigger trip out of it. I am thinking about driving there instead and stopping in Moab to do some mountain biking before going to Salt Lake for the races.

If you end up there for the races let me know ahead of time if you want and we can meet up at the races or something.

I went last year. Rode the Harley 4000 miles out and back and had a great time. It can be warm that time of year in the valley. The track is so big, 4.5 miles for the longest track, that even though they announced it was their biggest crowd for motorcycle races it didn't feel crowded. I thought the best viewing was in the Tooele grandstands at the highest point of the track but also the farthest from the paddock and the start/finish line.

Have any of the local guys decided to participate?

Are you able to get into all of the stands or are they reserved seating only for the most part?

We made our plans tonight to make it a week long trip and I'll start to get tickets and other times planned out or purchased tomorrow. I'd like to know how they run the show there.

I was thinking about getting the Paddock Seats, but with the hopes of being able to go around the track and watch from other locations as well.

On Thursday and Friday, there wasn't any restriction on seating. On Saturday and Sunday, I wandered around and only once did the ticket checker say I could not go into the grandstand. Most just checked to see that you had a ticket.

Thank you for the heads up on it.

Ralph and Tiatool...

I got two seats in the Paddock Grandstands section B row 2 if any of you decide to sit in that area as well.

I went last year and plan on making it this year as well. That place is HUGE!!!
I drove, took the bike with me, and went on to Cali and got some riding in while I was that close. Had a GREAT week.
