Turn signal question

are turn signals required to pass the inspection? i didn't see on the list that they were inspected or neccessarily required? i'm hoping they are not, so i can go get an inspection tomorrow with no front signals.

cheers, Max

this is what i was told when I took my ridding test.

horn, signals, lights, brake lights, and one red reflector on the back end.

Actually its not required. You either you have them or you don't. If you have them they must work, if you dont have them you have to meet the other criteria.

ah ha, that's what i was wondering. they aren't listed in the inspection sheet:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
05.07 Inspect Every Motorcycle and Motor-Driven Cycle For: (listed in suggested order of inspection)

* Check for evidence of Financial Responsibility

1. Horn
2. Mirror
3. Steering
4. Brakes (system)
5. Tires
6. Wheel Assembly
7. Exhaust System
8. Tail Lamp (1)
9. Stop Lamp (1)
10. License Plate Lamp
11. Rear Red Reflector (1)
12. Head Lamp (1)
13. Motor, Serial, or Vehicle Identification Number

Definitions:

Motorcycle: Every motor vehicle having a saddle for the use of the rider and designed to propel itself with not more than three wheels in contact with the ground but excluding a tractor.

Motor-Driven Cycle: Every motorcycle with a motor which has an engine piston displacement of not more than 125cc.

The horn, being the main thing they check. Also the breaks lights.

Other criteria, being the horn, tires, breaks, serials, etc.

Just know at any time after dusk, you can get a ticket for them. Most cops don't know the law that well. Or much so on a motorcycle, they just think they do and that they are required. If you get a lawyer you will find out other wise.
