First Timer(squid) Track Day Questions

I am hoping to go to the RideSmart track day at MSR next Saturday. I've been trying to get all the gear and my bike ready but still not sure I can do it in time.

Do they usually have anyone selling and installing tires? If so, as a first timer, do you think this is a good thing to do because I'm not sure how the program schedule is on the day and dont want my bike off at the tire-changer's all day, but I definately want to get some new rubber.

Also here is a quid question.... is it ok to use motocross boots? hahaha yeah I know it might be goofy but I've already got a pair of great alpine star tech 10s and they dont look a whole lot different than street bike boots. http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...-10-Boots.aspx. Dont really want to spend $350 for boots that are very hard to find that fit me (size 49 euro) when I could get away with these.

What do yall think? Thanks for the help.

Yes, John with South Central Race Center will be there selling and installing tires. Keep in mind, that you will have to get your wheels off your bike, then have tires mounted and balanced and then reinstall your wheels all before a riders meeting at 8am. He is in magnolia and if you can get by there this week, I'd suggest that. Or, he can ship them to you in lieu of his free mount in balance and you can have someone else mount them.

As far as the motocross boots, they are over the ankle and I don't see a problem with them. I have seen alot less quality boots on peeps feet than the ones you have. Worst case scenario, ridesmart rents boots for 25.00, for the day.

I will be there on the 7th as well. I'll look for ya and say hello.

If you want to get your bike dropped off at Motorcycles Unlimited for new tires, there are folks on the board that would likely help.

street tires are okay for your first track day. As for mx boots, as long as you are comfortable wearing them and shifting. They are not as flexible as the street/race boots.

i wouldn't suggest wearing motocross boots.....they restrict/hinder your movement more than you would like on a road racing course.

Motocross boots would suck. You wont be able to ride very well or shift. What size boot do you wear? Maybe I could loan you mine.

Thanks. But I wear a 13.5 or a euro 49.

Im currently looking for some legit track boots. I saw some used scorpions my size but not sure if the low cuts will be safe enough or allowed by track orgs.

I have some A*s that I could lend ya for the weekend.

My bike's still outta commission, so I can't use 'em.

I work by Hobby airport. Let me know if you're in need.

Another Motocrosser converted. Dont get hooked like I did slick, your money will start going away faster then you know. Motocross boots would be hard to ride in, I do both and know how stiff Tech 10s are.
