I got pulled over last month for speeding but they never said anything about my plate. Heck, it doesn't even have a light shining on it.

i really dont understand why they would take a picture of it. I guess to show examples of how its not suppose to be? If theyre really starting to crack down on that kind of stuff i need to move mine more closer to the rear of the bike. I dont know who would speed up then slow down and speed back up infront of a cop, thats just giving him a reason to pull you over.

They seem to be cracking down on everything recently. Everybody has been saying they're getting pulled over for no good reason lately...

I have never heard of such a database...the Hpd computer program that we run in our cars are not able to pull up pictures at this time. He might of been taking a picture as a example or something.
But, just FYI..the plate is supposed to be on the very rear of the vehicle...if you have the plate any where else you can be written a citation if the officers wants to give you one.
But as for a database...I call B/S

Get it right...it's not Hpd that is hard up for money..it's those officers that enjoy writting tickets because they want court time...not all cops write tickets...

Yep, myself and Spring R1 got the ticket for "obstructed licence plate." When the officer gave me my ticket, he told me the plate has to be on the rear of the motorcycle. Yamaha makes a bracket." It was the last sentence that really chapped me. Said it like a total condescending douche. SOOOO, I will do the same as SpringR1. ****HIM.

Mind games. They've been doing that in Kansas City for the past couple of years. They take pictures of individual bikes, groups that get together for a night out and recently they have gone so far as to stop in front of houses and take pictures of bikes in driveways......Is it for any OFFICIAL database, no. Is it legal? Not sure. But maybe HPD is goin in the same direction as KC with "Well, we saw a bike speeding that LOOKED like yours" and assorted other BS answers.

maybe also taking pictures for his proof if you take him to court or try to appeal the ticket. I would say that was what its for... other than that I dont really know about people taking pictures of my plates... The only time people write down plate numbers nothing good comes of it... (stolen bikes, having a target on your back etc etc.) I would of his badge number and called his precinct and told them what he did and demand and explanation.

I just looked the ticket up online, and guess what? The improperly displayed part of the ticket is not showing up. So I guess I get a free pass on that one. Also, I tried to find the penalty online, and could not get a difinitive answer as far as how much for the fine.

this is the reason I am really contemplating getting a cruiser for my next bike. sport bikers are the enemy now and get harassed at the drop of a hat. cruisers seem to get away with murder now. I'll save the sport bike for the track.
