Why do these bikes have one front caliper and rotor removed? I would think that if it's because you're going for a "clean look" or the "drag bike look", you'd remove the mounting lug on the fork leg, too?

Caliper mounts to the strut bracket; the rotor mounts independant to the axle so it can come off too. The junction for the caliper is bypassed for a single hose from the front caliper.

For a clean look, drag racing you'd want all the front braking you can get to stop at such a high rate of speed.
