Considering how many times Haga has been to Phillip Island, versus how many times Spies has..........makes you appreciate Ben's victory that much more. You could tell Haga knew the track, just by comparing some of his lines/passes, to Spies'. (of course that also probably has a lot to do with their two different riding styles.)

I seriously hope the two of them mix it up like that for the rest of the season.

Finally got a chance to watch race 1 and 2 of WSBK. Spies is going to be a huge competitor in the championship this year. Cant wait to see how he does at Doha next weekend.

Just watched race 2 last night....I thought Haga was gonna pull it off....

Did I hear him right in the interview that his tires were shagged with 5 laps to go....Spies is looking great on that Yamaha!

That battle for third place was sick as well...I enjoyed all the dicing it up. Pass on the inside, out brake, only to be passed the very same turn...what a fun race to watch!

I am telling you, if Pegram clocked 199.9, just think what the Factory duck can do.

My guess, they mapped down the duck for the second race. Not to take anything from Spies because he rode AWESOME, although i liked Hagas pass on the last section of the track.

Hey Alberto, it seems I already have a Guiness in my pocket for MotoGP

What would you say if we bet a beer on Haga vs. Spies? Most points at the end of the season wins.

Bayliss had the same problem. That is, if you really want to call it a "problem" for Troy, since he rode the out of spent tires none the less.

The Ducati has no problem eating tires. Plus, Phillip Island is really hard on them to begin with.

This leads me to ask......have we ever known Spies to have tire issues? I can't think of any moment is his professional career with AMA where he had any serious issue with tire life.

That is a good point. I can't remember any races where he has spent his tyres. And in both races last weekend, he got faster as the race went on.

There were races where he had issues with tire wear, I can think of a couple where he was caught up to by other riders too because of it. The difference is that he was already so far ahead, it didn't matter because they could never make up that gap despite the tire issues.

That does make plenty of sense. I just can't remember hearing him complain about it. Then again......I've never been one to watch a whole lot of AMA in the first place.

There were complaints, but most kept them a bit quiet because the Dunlop folks get off.

There was even a race that was shortened because of tire life and wear issues.
