Red face I need to check my tires more often.

Ok, so I woke up yesterday to a flat rear tire (screw in it AGAIN).

I jump in the car and go to work.

Last night, I pulled the screw and plugged the tire. The head of the screw was almost worn off. The center of my tire is flat spotted I would assume from riding as the air pressure was decreasing.

I plug it and air it up. All is well (except the flat spot, but it's ridable).

I check the pressure in my front. It was at 20 psi! I air it up and notice the thing is blistered! No riding on that thing!

I have been complaining for months about a vibration in my front end. I thought it was in my head, and I had no confidence. Big surprise that my front end felt like , huh? I actually rode 3090 twice since this vibration issue started. I guess I can consider myself lucky.

I am going to get a new front today or tomorrow. I'll ride the rear for now, but soon enough I'll have to replace it, too.

Cliffs:
I had a flat rear. Plugged and aired.
Now I have a bulging front, to be remedied in the next 24 hrs.
Dont be a dumbass like me. Check your front AND your rear often. Problems in those areas can sneak up on you and cause other problems such as: it could make you go down when you least expect it and you dont really have any desire to go down, and it could make your next riding session a painful one.

As soon as the word "months" turns to "years" in your riding experience.

That is scary! Sorry, but anything that feels weird the first time... gets checked immediately. I am a maintenance freak on bikes, when something shows wear/tear... I replace it with something new. I use to hear people tell me all the time, "I'll do it when I get more money" and they continue riding (keep in mind their bikes were not there DD)... bikes are recreational vehicles, if it's a danger to you/others, drive your car/truck. It's not a "must" to ride because it's fun, when you have another form of transportation. And I'm not saying don't ride your bike all the time either... just don't ride it when it's fu*ked up.

Ben

Btw, I'm not trying to lecture you "gtdrivr"... my words are to inform others who read your thread and are the ones who do as I described.

I check my tires every time before I ride. Had a rear tire blow out on me years ago and never will forget.

I've never had a problem with a tire before the wear bars show. The tire has PLENTY of tread left, just the structure failed.

Adventure continues...

ANOTHER nail in rear tire.

I need to replace BOTH.

Anyone have a trailer/truck they would like to volunteer tonight?

I THINK I can limp it up to Motorcycles Unlimited, but I'd rather not take the chance.

Well, Patrick hook me up.

I got to the shop late. One of the techs jumped on the bike and kicked on it. Way more than I expected. I thought I was screwed.

THANKS A MILLION PATRICK AND Motorcycles Unlimited!

I'll be back in a bit for some other work.
