dunno. my bike has 3. one is gas overflow, one is coolant overflow and not sure about the 3rd one.

i'm pretty sure it's suppose to be there because of the metal thing holding it in place in one of the pics..just wondering what its for

it's an overflow tubes/hoses.

If you overfilled gas that's where it will come out.

Vents for the gas tank and other overflows...now go clean that nasty chain shown in the first picture.

anyways..i started my bike up today and a loud BOOM (i think from exhaust) exploded...any ideas? didn't do it again when i started turning it on for the rest of the day..and it was ridden yesterday so wasn't a long time since it was ridden ..

I'd look at replacing that chain fo sho! - rusted and pitted FTL...I'd check your sprocket too as that might need replacing as well. Can't see it, but with a chain looking like that I'd venture a guess that the sprocket is deteriorating as well.

Patrick from Motorcycles Unlimited has a Pre-Ride checklist. That chain is definitely on it! Not calling you out, but more of a hand to help keep your skin in place bro.
