If you ride with Mala a lot. Most of the shorter boots should be fine to walk in. I am guessing it would be the same for the touring boots. However someone with more experience should chime in and let us know.

Don't you have a locker? Get some good riding boots and change your shoes at school.

The ones I have are very comfortable.
I leave them on when I get home from riding sometimes because I forget I have them on. I usually wear them to walk my dogs when I get home from a ride, (25min) walk.
I strongly recommend my smx-5, I chose the vented ones.

it's all about compromise

the more race oriantated boots are worse to walk w/ but safer in a crash

the more comfy they are to walk in the less protection they offer.

if you plan to ride fast or do trackdays look into the sidi B2s or A* SMX for a good in between.

I use the Sidi On ON ROAD boots. This is a touring type of boot. They are pretty tall and a pain to take off but really good boot for narrow feet. I did have to buy new cushions because the ones they came with sucked.

i go tthe A* One O One caues I DID wear Sidi's on a daily basis, but I cannot afford a new pair every year wearing the soles out.
I have worn the One O Ones a lot more often and worn them all day and they are very comfortable to walk around in. In 4 months of ownership they show minimal sole wear and I will not hesitate to wear them all day long.

I was browsing for some boots for the same purpose. I found these the other day from motostrano.com, but they're alpinestars anyways. I'd rock them for commuting to school.

+1. I have these and they're ok. A little heavy for taking the stairs all day. The Sidi's that Racer X put up will offer much better protection but I'm never comfortable in full shin boot. They're desinged for chickin legs.
