Side Swiped by Mr. Nice Guy

Going to lunch today i was side swiped on the 1960 over pass at 59 in humble, the guy raced right over 3 lanes to get in my lane not seeing me, and smacked right in to me. Luckily i didnt go down cuz my arm cought on to his right side mirror but man did it hurt. The second we stoped he got out freaking out, apologizing over and over, gave me his license and his insurance papers, and like....3 people got out of there cars to give me their numbers for witness statements. Long story short, he didnt want to get the insurance company involved so he is gonna write me a check for the repairs and a new helmet strait from his pocket.....what a nice guy huh.

ALWAYS get insurance info... and if you can, verify it's valid before they drive off.

I hope that check doesn't bounce and everything works out.

Sorry noticed you said that, my apologies for not paying better attention to what you wrote. :-)

Glad you came out alright, might be a good idea to get the arm checked out tomorrow too.

lesson learned from people saying there going to pay for it and not to get popo involve is a big mistake. popo report makes a huge difference!!!just cause you do popo report doesnt mean it has to go on insurance. and tha way if he changes his minde its already go the laws rueling. just my experience.

9 times out of 10 if you dont call the cops you dont get any money. Just the way it is, he can beat around the bush for weeks then finally if you call the cops they ask if you filed a report. nope? Then they dont care. So then you call the insurance company and say this guy hit you, they ask for the police report. "what? no report?" now they don't care.

I hope he does the right thing but I don't allow people the benefit of a doubt anymore. It sucks but I just don't trust people anymore. I hope it turns out ok for you this time

You have 24 hours to submit a police report. Get your check and and verify that it is good before then, or go to the police station.

500? I bet insurance woulda paid you an even 2k easy. Just had to take it to a local shop and anything that's scratched say you want replaced with OEM parts and then get the check back you would be surprised how expensive oem parts are

File the report anyway. It's just better that way as sort of a just incase.

I understand you're being nice...but you never know.
