why do you want to lower your bike? Feet don't touch the ground?

Jen is a great girl sweet and intellectual love her!!!!!!I want to lower my bike just to get full grip on the ground. Someone told me it's a dis advantage on turning. Is that true? I can reach the ground but I don't know it's pretty hi from the brand new tires i got for my B-day. How much should I lower it? Help, give me opinions...
