Yellow Warning signs question

If you are travelling on a highway marked 50mph and come to a curve where there is a diamond shaped yellow sign with the curved arrow and it says, 30mph, is that a suggested speed or is that the actual speed limit in the turn?
Could you be ticketed for going 40mph thru that curve?

I don't have the time to research this anymore (gotta work) so if you respond please include a reference to where you found the answer.

Thanks, you may have just saved a life, as we are, having a heated "discussion" about this.

from what i remember that is a recommend speed, not the speed limit... i learned this in drivers ed because i was exiting grant from 249 and i slowed to the speed on the yellow sign and the teacher said that is only the recommended speed...

that maybe true, but im sure an officer could give you some sort of bs ticket, like wreckless driving, or too fast for conditions

I asked a buddy of mine a while back and he said that they can give you a ticket for it, I don't remember exactly what he said it was but that it wasn't a speeding ticket, it was something like failure to follow a warning sign.

Yeah, then it's a speeding ticket. It has nothing to do with the corner speed.

Yellow signs are "warning" signs. There is not a law that you have to follow that exact sign. There IS a law that states "you must observe all warning signs". It is all up the the officers discretion based on conditions, traffic, day/nigh, rather he likes you or not, etc

i usually take that as a suggestion of 1/2 minimum speed

it's like a bonus for learning math in school
