does anyone work on their harley?

besides scootertrash.

Ok, searched high and low for a fuel pump for my road king.
Needless to say, I had to go to harley. Ordered one, $300+ and a few weeks later, in comes my fuel pump. I cant really say that I was surprised, they ordered the wrong one(STUBBS TELEPHONE ROAD) how do these as$monkeys look in the dam book and order the wrong part, my grandma can look up parts and type in an order.(I guess it was an actual mechanical part, and not the usual chrome plated-leather fringed-custom engraved handle bar grip that they are used to ordering)

So I'm really , I have built over 10 sport bikes with no problems finding parts and such, or reading blogs about people that have modded and such.

Does anyone know where I can buy parts, not from the dealer. Jp does not carry fuel pumps. Anyone know of a harley salvage or something.

Josh, next time you deal with Stubbs Cycles ask the jackass behind the counter to verify his part numbers with Joe Williams in the service department. He's one of the most knowledgeable guys I've ever worked with, and his simple mistakes like that are very rare. Tell him Joe/Jetcycles sent you. . .

Don't buy anything from Republic HD in Stafford, off 59, either. They've screwed me over so bad, so many times.

ok, got my hardley going: potato potato. Ordered the fuel pump from http://www.chitownhd.com/ really good discount, less than half the price of local, 395.00 vs 150.00.(actual new oem part both places)

I heard a rumor that HD is also asking for some bail-out money because of possible bankruptcy.

I need to make a t-shirt:
"harley, been fukn americans since way back"

Why the would you ask for "bail out" money? reduce the godam prices and move some of that overpriced inventory. Maybe they will close the overpriced clothing store mansions that also sell a few bikes, and "mom and pop" dealers will come back.

end of rant.

+1 - Go to Motorcycles Unlimited homepage. What's the ugliest, least modified and by far the most expensive bike they're featuring?

well

I go to Mancuso for parts... there are some dealers that will give you a 20% discount if you just call and give them the part # u are are looking for. I'm yet to have any problems with my HD (07 Ultra classic) and I ride it alot... Went to Virginia last year on it and this year I'm going to Colorado... I have over 20k miles and all I have done is replace tires and change the oil when needed. I also had an 07 Night rod Special and the only proble I had was a lose neck bearing (my fault for not torquing it) I do all my own work so I can't blame HD for that. It had over 6K miles when I sold it so I can't say much about that bike since I had it for about a year. I also have an 08
1125R, bike has over 10K miles, and IMO is by far the best sport bike I ever had. I had a hand full of sport bikes and I would never do 600+ miles in 1 day with out asking me why I was doing that to myself, the 1125R is great for every day riding and has plenty of power. I like it better than my brothers 1098...
