The traffic would be the same for both trips. Im not talking about riding around the city. Im thinking about heading NW up towards Travis. Im open to other suggestions on an alternate route though. I need to do some research. Im not doing a 8-9 hour ride. My attention span isnt that long.

What about just staying closer to the route and skipping 6th? I have been there many times and I cant see having a good night after that long of a ride. SA or Kerville maybe. I know I sound like a poon.

I just think times are underestimated. I dont see the 187 mi. to get to the start taking 2 hrs. I also dont see the 4-5 hr. ride on the sisters only being 4-5 hrs. I see it as at least 10 hours of riding. I have no issues with staying near the sisters and riding for say 6 hrs. That still leaves some time for drinking and relaxing. That Busa isnt a g wing. I do know Im down for something out of town for sure.

From Leakey, the Twisted Sisters is about a 120-130 mile loop. A lot of 15-20 mph corners. You can figure "your" lap time from there. Some can do it quicker than others, but it's a long way from home to be showing yer azz.

To and from 187 miles is also a lot of backroads.. again your time will vary depending on traffic and your skill level and willingness to take chances.

I know I have stayed in Kerrville... we left at 8 in the morning to have Breakfast in Bandera at the OST, then did the sisters and back down 39 to Kerrville. We weren't doing triple digits, but we weren't putting either.. got back to the hotel at 6:30. Ended up with 300 some odd miles that day.

Down

Yeah Lurch I see where you're going. I know the Lakes in the Austin area, Town, Travis and marble falls are all beautiful rides as well. Fredricksberg I hear is wonderful too.

at this point I am down for anything.

Jason and I, as well as Pyrobug (but he'll be fighting that weekend), have been talking about this for a month or two now. So we're doing the sisters!! I already have a buddy that lives in San Antonio and takes friends out to the Sisters all the time. He's going to be our "tour guide". I'm not trying to wear my tires out in the middle just for a long road trip... pointless. I made arrangements for a trailer for a reason... to get the bikes up there and back, and in case something happens to a bike.

Now, if you don't want to MAN UP and go on this ride with us, that's cool. You're still more than welcome to come up to Austin and have some fun with us. JASON & I are planning on waking up early Saturday morning, loading the bikes on the trailer, and heading West to hit up the 3 Sisters. Do some riding, eating and all that... load back up on the trailer and go back to the hotel in Austin and clean up and then head out to 4th & 6th Street for some good ol fashioned FUN!!!!! For the "girls" that need rest or sleep, you can sleep in the truck, if you want to trailer with us out to the Sisters. (Yes, that'll be a nice 1.5-2 hour nap for you ladies ) The way I see it, I live near Katy on Grand Parkway and for me to go to PP69 on I-45N & 242, than do the Forrest Trip to Yankees, eat and come all the way home (which usually I'm putting the 3rd tank of gas in on the way home).. starting at 8 am to meet around 9 am, and getting home around 3 or 4.. that's about what this trip will be like, but maybe a tad longer. I'm not planning an IronButt Tour. TexLurch is doing that for April though.

Then Sunday, thought we could wake up and grab a little breakfast, then head out for some Austin twisties around Lake Travis and grab some lunch. Then head back to the trailer and load up to come home. Should be home way before dark, assuming all goes well.

For everybody else, you can go ride wherever & whenever you please. Not trying to be a d!ck or anything. This is just the ride that Jason and I have been planning for a while. We just wanted to offer for other cool peeps to come along too.

That doesn't sound bad, I think some of us was thinking you wanted to ride from Austin to the 3 sister. And y'all dont sound like d!cks or anything, either way it sounds like a fun weekend

It was a misunderstanding on my part I guess. Im all about trailering to the route. I was understanding yall wanted to ride to the sisters. I had the long ride and possible accidents due to fatigue on my mind. And you do sound like a , but thats OK. Its your ride and I am often accused of the same. I know I seem like a cry baby, but its all good now. That many hours on the bike and twisty unfamiliar roads sounded like a PITA to me. Im in for hauling the bike to the sisters and hitting 6th.
