Inspection/Registration

My bike has been sitting for awhile now due to engine problems. I plan on putting it in Motorcycles Unlimited tomorrow to get her back up and going. My question is, since this will be my first time to Register and Inspect it, after I get it back, what will I need to make sure all goes smooth? I have insurance and a M class. Anything else? How much does it $$run$$ for both?

This is the first time you have EVER registered it ... or since it's been down? If you haven't transfered it from the original owner you have to pay the sales tax

No but you will have to pay the yearly license fee. You should have gotten a renewal by mail. If not just give them the plate number and have your dl and insurance card. It will cost you around 50 bucks.

as long as they did title transfer for you, you are good. texas now has $25 late fee for every 30 days not transferring the title. i didn't know this new law and i let it go for 8 months. i had to pay $200 late charge.

anything I should be aware of for inspection? I think I should be good, but any pointers ,so I pass the first time would be helpful. do they run it on the "treadmill" as I call it??

they didn't mine. The guy didn't even test it - he just looked at it, checked the tire depth and the lights. Asked me if the brakes worked and then put the sticker on the bike.

nope, they do a simple brake check, functioning lights (if it has turn signals, they must all work), and a horn....tread depth wasn't an issue, but they were concerned with the rubber thingy's hanging off the sides of the tire.
