600rr Starting help

2003 600rr

The bike makes the sound like its cranking over but it just never fires up. I used to be able to push start it, but now it won't even start that way either.

I put a brand new battery in, new spark plugs, cleaned the air filter, checked all the fuses. And yes it has plenty of good gas lol. The fuel pump is coming on each time as well.

What should I try next? I read that the 03-04 rectifiers are notorious for being , but the bike should still be able to push-start if it's bad, correct?

Starter maybe?

I dont think it is the rectifier that is keeping it from starting. But that is probaly why he has to push start it.
I think he might have gummed up injectors, or bad coils? I think either he is not getting gas or spark. I changed the spark plugs for him and he didnt buy my lunch, ! His fuel pump is coming on, we can here it. And it is not a starting, bat. or rectifier. The bike turns over great with no hesitation. It just wont start.
I think he needs to run a fuel additive through it to clean it out and gett he fluids moving.

At asi, I used my truck to jump it but it was turned off. The bike didn't push start before I did that either, so who knows.
Joe, what was happening to your bike when the computer was bad?

I could here my fuel pump prime, could hear the relays click in the tailsection, engine turned over normal but just would not start. Also could smell alot of gas almost as if the bike was flooded or something.

i had an '03 cbr600rr... and one day when i got home, the bike just didn't start back up.. didn't act funny or anything. called my buddy at the honda shop after checking everything i could think of.. i mean the bike was cranking but not firing, and seemed like everything came on.. tried to jump start it but nothing would happen. i took it up to the shop and apparently there was just a loose connection in some wiring behind the fairings.. it was just alittle rusty at some connection.. they cleaned it up and put in back together and fired up just fine since then..

my advice, check your wiring for corrosion.

oh and i was down for a month cause i couldn't figure it out, one of my ignition wires broke loose off the soder, and the bike would turn on, fuel pump prime, and crank over, but no FIRE! it had and spark but the soder was barely touching that it would fire up for a second then die due to vibrations..man that sucked.

What did the old Spark plugs look like?
Google reading spark plugs.
Have you checked the spark, you know pull one and while plug is in the lead hold it gronded to the engine and crank it over. If you get a strong spark then at least that is OK. Weak spark and it may not be firing under cranking compression.

Not sure if you should try this or not - consider a shot of ether / engine starting fluid down the intake, careful , good way to start a fire.

If it does fire up get it to a reputable shop.

Do you have any throttle posion sensors that could have moved.

I think Kdog22 has it right, corrosion or lose wire.
This also expalins it getting progresively worse.

Good Luck
