Welcome!

To be honest, my recommendation would be to ride with someone you can trust for a while. There are many respectable riders on here and include your husband in this. Invite him to some of the meet and greets in your area like HAK on thursdays. Make sure its someone that can offer good equipment for you to wear and wont act foolish. When you do start riding, do not ride with anyone that doesn't adjust the ride for you. If they make you feel like you need to keep up constantly, drop them and find others to ride with.

What this offers is a feel to biking and experience through safer riding practices. As a passenger you dont have to worry about controlling the bike and get a feel for how to ride with traffic, cornering etc.

Some of the safest and best riders have been passengers for a while beforehand. They also pick up quicker and dont have so many issues since they are trying to learn to control a bike and react when something happens around them, not watching and avoiding those situations first.

Most importantly, gear up. Always. Not cheap bargain gear... you will regret that if the paramedics have to pull it off of you. Gear up for the crash not posing points.

It is an addiction, welcome to it.

Humble here also. I can vouch for the HAK crowd. Good times on Thursday nights. Come check it out - even before you decide on the bike. It's cool to see what everyone else is riding. Welcome!(!!!!!!)

Itzel86, welcome to MH. You will enjoy learning to ride in the MSF course. There were several folks who had never ridden a motorcycle in my class. At first I was skeptical that they would be able to learn in 2 days. But I was impressed that they could ride and execute all the manuevers by the end of it.

Just take it slow.

Come to think of it, my wife has never ridden on the back of my bike...too worried about falling off...where's the trust?!

HAK stands for Humble Atascocita Kingwood. We usually have between 15 to 30 bikes show up on Thursdays at the Starbucks parking lot across from the mall. Here's a link :

http://www.motohouston.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=80676

Meetup starts around 7. Sometimes people go eat before.
