Talk to Dave at Awesome Cycles for instruction. You'll need the MSF anyways, and they are the best qualified to teach you. They are also a site sponsor.

Those "expensive lessons" are cheaper then your helmet is in most cases. So take the course.

hello, if nobody's told you , motorcycling is an exp. hobby and risky hobby and hoepfully your husband will back you in exploits.

MSF is a must and at $180 is relatively cheap.

insurance in general is not cheap
nor is riding gear

depends on your price range for a bike. 08 ninja 250's are going around 3800. Bought my 09 new at 4600. I can tell you I greatly enjoy mine, even though everyone told me its underpowered. I can outrun most cars on the road, and with only 700mi on it i've gained alot of confidence, that I now know i personally wouldn't have on a 600.

Later model 250ninja's are frequently on craigslist for 1500-2k. just remember to save some money for gear, and sweat whipes off, road rash doesn't. Not to mention having a nice layer of leather between your chest and the locust flying at you near 60-80mph is a nice buffer.

Welcome to the site
Dave?? Are you out of your friggin mind?

And those "expensive lessons" work out to about $6.50/hour per Instructor. How much is your life worth?

Seriously though, if the classes are too expensive, you might want to relook at gettting a bike. Motorcycles are generally considered toys.

You're not too far behind! I didn't start riding until I was 33. Never even rode on back before!

Take MSF before you even decide on a bike. Get your jacket, gloves, etc. BEFORE you buy your bike. You'll be tempted to ride w/o your gear, but don't do it.

My advice is buy a USED 250, because chances are highly in favor of you dropping it. Gawd knows I dropped mine plenty.

Leg humping is the guys saying you're pretty, and curb monkeys are girls who only ride on back, or just like the guys who ride.

Welcome to motorcycling! It's an addictive hobby! Good luck!
