hey Alan - I missed it somewhere, what was the source of the original problem with the noise in the engine?

Sounds like you have a monster though.

You didn't miss it, we never found it....it still ticks...LOL

When I took it to 3rd Coast speed, they pulled the motor(after I had already pulled it 3 times and tore it down myself) they pulled the head, everything looked good, they thought the problem was the cam chain or the tensioner. So they put a new cam chain in it(the first one was new also though...) and a manual tensioner and swore they fixed the problem....Well when we had it on the dyno at 3rd Coast, I didn't hear the noise. Once I got it home and started street riding it, the noise was still there. 1000 miles later, still has a slight tick in it to this day from about 1800-3800 rpms but...... If it held up to the 60 dyno pulls we made on it saturday, I'm not worrying about it...LOL

BTW....I might not make the Tx Mile now.... we just found out our dog needs a $1500 leg surgery ASAP.... thats pretty much gonna blow me out for the mile.....Plus the electric shifter finally gave up the ghost on my busa and I had to order an air shifter for $365 to get it ready for the mile....Thats $2k I hadn't planned on spending... :(

Thanks bro...but thats ok...I am not completely out yet but gotta kick it around some. Aside from the $1500 I have to spend on the dog, here is what else I need before I can run it at the Mile..

New rear tire $200
Oil/filter change and build catch can $75
air shifter $365(already ordered this)
hotel $100
Mile entry $200
Food/beer $100
Race fuel $60

Thats $1100 I need to spend or have ready before mid March.....after taking the $1500 hit for the dog surgery, I don't think I can swing all of it in time. I will just get everything ready for the October Tx Mile...that give me some more time to get the funds, the parts installed and dialed in and be confident in it.

If it will help, My wife and I are prolly gonna go, So U can stay with us in our room, so that will be free, and I will cover the $60 for fuel, but I understand not rushing things, and sorry to hear about your dog

I've got an electric shifter sitting in a box collecting dust, if you do find a way to run down there. You're welcome to borrow it. I won't need it until the summer.

At minimum, I hope you and can make it down to hang out with us.

Thanks for the offer bro! Actually, I already ordered a Cycle-Tek Co2 shifter. I had a Holeshot PS3 shifter like the one that used to be on karl's 12R. Been on my bike for 9 yrs but its finally me off enough to get rid of it. Actually, I have Karl's PS3 also sitting in the box that screwed me on my 1000..... Cycle tek is the way to go.
