a rat rod is an excuse for a lack of attention to detail.
keep it clean & give it an exile look...no wires, no excess.

a rat rod is a bike for people who care more about functionality than form. screw the details, keep it ugly!

Not always, it takes alot of detail to give a bike or car that aged look but still be clean, however you are correct that alot of times lazy people call their stuff "rat rods" as an excuse to cut corners.

I call a rat rod that's wild and apart from normal style.
Anybody remember Big Daddy Ed Roth? He made his career on rat rods
