dont know why alot of people look at the #'s and all that good stuff when they get a bike .. i got an 01 gsxr .. its fast enough for me .. i know i cant ride it to fullest ability on the streets and im comfortable on it .. i could really care less if it revs to 17.5 or 30.5

to each their own i guess

Don't get me wrong, I'm looking at it from a purely foundation of a racebike viewpoint, which is what Yamaha is marketing it as. From that aspect it has some issues that might make the difference of me choosing one as a racebike.

As far as it "owning" the supersport class with "just an ECU upgrade", time will tell, Kawi did a of a job beating up on Yamaha last year in the AMA. Time will tell.

O man well that just sucks . i want to belive that he tested a bad bike or something and he was jsut paied to put up some bad specs but that really really sucks . i was couting it to be off the hook with the rev limit higher. looks clean though. I hope they don't F up the new model 07 R1. thats what i'm saving my $$ for.

Yea i figured it would be uber soft on the bottom and mid but i didnt want it as a street bike either so it will never see those ranges anyways. I also heard about the tach issue already as well It wasnt final yes its off but they where 95%sure since that seems to be the normal with yammy. I still think its a great bike and if i had a lot more cash flow i would have one for my track bike.

why does it matter if you have to own one to know it doesn't rev up that high? i don't own a gsxr, but i do know they don't get 90+ mpg. its just a fact. and f.y.i. check here http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/pr.../features.aspx

seems like they took off their claims with the 17.5k rev.....

just don't be all defensive about what people say, if you like the bike fine thats great. i like the new r6 too. but i root for the green.

sucks about that oil filter...especially if you do your own oil change. I agree with some of you over the fact that whether the bike is advertised as "race ready" or whatever, if it's not going to be at the track, then that marketing strategy is just to hype up everyday riders. Plus, guys always want the meanest, fastest bike. I think people fall in love w/ the fantasy of having the best bike out. Whether they live up to bike as being the best rider...that's something totally different.

please list the people in this thread that do not OWN a bike and are having a converstion about the specs.

i read few discussions a while back similar to this one after i sold my 01 zx6r and was considering the suzuki 750 or kawi 636 and i found it very helpful to read people ragging on moth bikes.

I think kaw has a great 636 and all but they still need a street killer bike. Honda needs more power and less weight. Its all about the suz 1000 and da yam R1. Track riding is great but people dont go. Kaw needs a street killer. The new zx-10 looks like sh*t by the way!!!

It what happens when you get older and don't have to do. I think most of the regulars know that Racer will always toot his horn for as long as he is on message boards so we just get used to it. It's the n00bs that get their panties in a bind.
