Ouch!

Our 636 for this season made 117.1, and that was just with a pipe, BMC and PCIII USB, on pump gas. Our torque curve was broader and higher as well.

I think that's why Yamaha kept last years R6 but put the right side up forks back on it, it'll make a better street bike.

I hadn't had the new R6 on the dyno yet but the one I rode felt real soft in the middle.

I also noticed some of the other issues he was talking about as far as the shifter, filter access, reg / rec placement and number plate space availibilty.

lol, yeah it's called marketing........and alot fools buy into it. sure that powerband is great for the track, unfor. 99% of riders never hit the track. a YZF600 has a better powerband for street riders, but how many of those do you see of those vs r6s. that power is great for riding at 9/10ths of the bikes potential.........in reality most peeps barely can hit 50% of the bikes potential...........don't believe the hype.

i would wager the avg. rider wouldnt run faster lap times on old fzr600 then the '06 R6...........

why? you'll realize as you ride more, the rider is more important then the machine.

the rider is more important though I think they would run faster lap times. I don't know if the suspensions are different but a better suspension tuned properly can make you so much more relaxed that your times will drop. just my 2 c

so do you have to take the rearset off or just unscrew the linkage to remove the filter? thats pretty smart on yamaha's part cuz they know alot of people still take their bike to the dealer for maintenace.

I would to, however, the bike is marketed towards being a "race ready" platform, so some of the minor details like the shift linkage, oil filter access, and the regulator mounted where it will go through the radiator in a l/h low-side.
As far as power, in the hotly contested 600 class, power is just as important as handling, you can't be short on euther.

Angry !!

Everyones been making a big deal about the bike, and yeah its not right that Yamaha said that it redlined at 17.5k but were are not all pros(Track) like Mr.x here so, i mean i have the bike and im pretty happy with the ride and especially the high rps which arent exactly at 17500 but anywho im just a poser that doesnt know anything about bikes.lol
Imo i think its the most advanced (street production bike available) some people just hate cause the couldn't get one.
with the ecu upgrade it should easily pass the 17.5 mark without any internal adjustments. Which will own all middle-weight class bikes.
