New to this forum.

I have been riding for twenty plus years and street raced most of those years(drags),but have long since put that behind me. I would like to start draging a knee. I have also motocrossed since I was 8 yrs and still race and ride at least once a week (great way to stay in shape)(except for arm pump),but would love to road race, any advice would be greatly appr. I have plenty of motocross gear but have no road race gear what do you recomend(leather/textile,ect.)

For sure go with leathers. Full leathers is best, especially if you want to drag your knee.

Welcome, when you say draggin knee, you mean doing track days or forest rides?

I like leather better than textile, but if you are doing track days I would suggest a one piece. If you are doing forest rides, I guess a two piece would be fine. Likewise, long gloves and boots.

Welcome!

What they said^^^

Dont bother trying to drag knee on the street. Its not safe and its an immediate red flag for the cops, even if you are close to the speed limit. Second, you hit gravel or something mid turn.... you're off the bike not over it and can bite hard.

Instead, hone those skills at the track as Godsuki mentioned. If you wanna see if its something for you check out the parade laps at lunch during track days. Show up pre noon, geared up w jacket, pants, ankle-covering shoes/boots, gloves and helmet. You will receive a few laps guided w the track instructors.

You can only gain experience w track days. Whether you choose to keep that experience on the track or push it to the streets, is up to you.

I highly recommend considering their experience in reaching your goals.

For the street a two piece is perfect during stops. Leathers breathe just fine even in the hottest summer days.

This is your thread! Ask all the questions you want!

Thanks for the welcome.

Thank you guys. I went to Angleton motocrosss this morning for a little practice for an up coming race and noticed a lot of bikes headed north on Hwy 2004. Was there a track day at GSS this weekend? Buy the way how is that track? Thanks for the advice and I will not be dragging a knee on the street only on the track. MY Bandit may not be the best choice for a track bike but will have to do for now. Got to keep the kids motocross bikes running and ready to race. when is the first/next track day comming up? If my schedule will let me I will try the Parade lap at the next event. Again I thank you for the welcome.

Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength-
