Bikes Hauling Ace on I-10 & Studemont

I live at some apartments right off I-10 in between Studemont and Heights Blvd and every single night at around midnight or so I hear a group of several sportbikes really getting on it on the freeway. I can't see how many or what types of bikes because I'm on an inner part of the apartment but it's pretty freaking loud.

So if you're the culprit and you're reading this, I'm going to get a speed bump or cattle guard or something put on the freeway so you'll have to slow down.

If the cattle guard doesn't slow you down then the steel cable 3.5 feet off the ground will!

It might be your mom with her industrial strength vibrator in the next room. Ever check just to make sure?

That would have to be a serious piece of hardware if I can hear it at my place 6 miles away from my mom's house!

Dude, that's what you get for moving into apartments that sit right on the freeway.

Freeway = traffic noise.

That's why you're rents cheaper. Or at least it should be since you live right on the freeway. Hope you're not getting raped.

Like I said before, it doesn't really bother me.

I think $1,000 for a one bedroom is downright ridiculous, but you gotta pay that much to not live in a ghetto complex around here. Other ones South on Montrose are considerably higher.

Montrose turns into Studewood. That's why I call it Stud E Wood. As in, if you are ghey you might study wood for a hobby.

I remeber growing up near 59 at Kirby. 5 blocks from the freeway. The sound of bikes hauling azz always made me smile, and be jealous, and hate my parents all in the same milisecond.

The first week at college I heard a pack of bikes roar off from a stoplight on a Friday night. Saturday I took my textbook money, christmas check, a month of living expense money and bought a wrecked honda Nighthawk for $450 from a local shop. While buying it I struck up a conversation with the shop owner. He mentioned his roadracing days and beating Randy Renfrow left and right. Then he mentioned winning stock class at Daytona. "I was like, Yeah, right dude!" So he took me upstairs to the "apartment" over the shop, showed me his squared off ribbed tire, his trophies, and his 20+ 70's and 80's racebikes, all in perfect stored condition. Then his drag bike, then his 200 mile KZ900 silver / blue, then a KR RZ350, blah blah blah. I ended the day with a job as a grunt helper at his one man shop. Paid for a good chunk of college with that job and had a blast doing it. I also saw old Jim run a wheelie thru traffic, shifting up four gears on his Norton (with comstar mags, titanium everything, HComp pistons....then change lanes with blinker, and brake it in downshifting and holding the wheelie till he was going 1/2 mph. Jim Brady could ride like none other.

So, it's a trip down memory lane every time I hear a pack of 4 cyl bikes on the freeways at night. I especially like to hear them at my parents house, when it's quiet, and my dad scowls at me, my son's ears perk up and he smiles, and I wink at my dad. Some things never change.
