Newbies?

I've been caging it to work the past few weeks with bike rides intermixed and have noticed that almost every weekday afternoon I turn the radio on there is a motorcycle accident being announced on the traffic reports. Some in the morning, but mostly afternoon drive. I have yet to see a rider down, and to tell the truth I havent seen many other ppl period on bikes. Rash of nubs on harleys, or sportbike folk? Squids? Cager terrorism on the HOV lanes? Fatalities, or just little lowsides?

To quote seinfeld, who are these people?

there are moto accidents everyday. you just hear about it more cuz its a motorcycle and riders have a reckless "profile".

There are a ton of wrecks every weekend. I remember about two years ago on Racers Road a group of Harleys from some north group went down there and about ten of them wrecked going around a corner. Houston is so big we just never see everything at everytime.

agreed. there has been more negative chatter about motorcyclists in the past few months fom a variety of sources. I got 4 tickets in one weekend from 2 separate HPD LEO, one of whom told me they were cracking down on sportbikes (not lying). the tickets were for various errata...no turn signal for lane change, expired inspection, license plate bracket illegal, speeding 70 in a 60. in court, crackdown guy wouldnt let go of me, until the lawyer threatened to take it to trial. fortunately all of the tickets were dismissed. all the tickets I have ever gotten on two wheels...in two days. profiling?

one of the bosses at work was talking about the crazy kids flying by at 100 who he hoped they killed themselves. what a strange wish.

ridership has increased because of the price of gas...which is good I suppose. but the amount of times I have heard the words "motorcycle accident" makes me feel pretty bad, bad mental images you know.

yeah, popular curvy backroads on the weekend with nub riders riding over their head...I can see that. I have seen that. But straight as an arrow HOV lane? I've heard that more than a few times on the radio and thought...what the ??

yup. ive been stopped before for no reason.

i was riding back home and i passed a cop car that was coming out of a parking lot. i looked in my mirror and saw him speeding up behind me. he was RIGHT ON my tail for about half mile until i turned my head to look and him and make a gesture with my hand saying, "What!?"

the lights came on and he went to run my plates, license, inspected my whole bike and was about to let me go until he rememberd to check my safety inspection.

just ride within the laws and always have you papers straight so when they do pull you over they dont have nothing on you and you promote a good image.
