I want to be able to mount the Ipod on the handlebars and not have all the wires sticking out.

Not too many options from what I have seen, and none that were worth a . Go with something that ties in everything and run a cord to your helmet. Screw dealing with batteries.

I been doing the same, but I can click to the next song from my pocket

what really sucks is when I hit the wrong buttons and end up in the menus or pausing the song then in the menus and can't fix it til I stop

They make a remote that plugs into bottom of ipod, the remote part can be mounted on handlebars or wherever you want. Haven't talked to anyone that uses it but sounds like an option

I make different playlists and just pick the one am in the mood for, works good

Went to CycleGear and they showed me this device by Chatterbox that allows you to communicate with other riders within 30 feet as well as accept calls on your phone (which I do not recommend). I just bought it, so I will see how well it works:

http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/1/4/62/15257/ITEM/ChatterBox-XBi-Wireless-Intercom-with-Bluetooth.aspx?SiteID=SLI|Chatterbox&WT.MC_ID=1001 0

In addition, you would need to purchase the bluetooth adapter for your ipod. Sony makes one that connects to the 30 pin connector on most late and early model ipods.

I love to listen to music, but for safety reasons, I highly discourage fumbling with your ipod or using your phone while in motion. That one glance downward to switch a song or accept a call can put you in a world of hurt. My company is big on safety, and has fired employees for using their phones while driving on the premises. If you need to take a call, pull over.
