Welcome, since no one seems to be offering any valuable info to you, I will chime in and help where I can.

First off, let me suggest taking the MSF Course. We have a site sponsor called Awesome cycles and they have courses you can take on the weekend, plus you can get a discount for being a member. The course consists of classroom instruction and hours of riding drills in the huge parking lot they have set up. The whole course is really fun too, so that is a plus. Upon completion of the course they will give you a certificate that will waive the riding test at the DMV. All you have to do is take the written test and they will issue you a new license with an "M" class. I took the course with them when I first started riding and am probably still alive because of it I highly recommend it to ANYBODY interested in riding.

As far as a bike to buy to start out on, that is a controversial issue. Everyone has different opinions on it. Some will say 250cc, and some will say a 600cc is okay. In my opinion, you have to honestly ask yourself if you can respect the power. If you feel you can't and will have a tendency to want to go fast, then you don't belong on a 600. That is how new riders get hurt or killed. Not to say that a 250 won't kill ya, but you have to understand how fast the current 600's are. While 600's look cool and are fast, your life is more important than the image you want to portray. There is NOTHING wrong with starting on a smaller bike and eventually upgrading. I started on a 600 and respected it for the most part, but keep in mind everyone is different and some catch on faster than others. Ex. I've only been in the game 2 years but I can hold my own to most if not all of these old farts that have been riding all their lives just about I am accident free on the STREET and intend to keep it that way. Please wear a helmet and FULL gear. Please take MSF and I hope you make a wise decision on a first bike. Be safe, start slow, skill comes with time and once you know what your doing you can start to really have some fun
