I think most LEDs are glass and I'm not sure if you could sand them well. You might want to consider putting some acrylic into the fairing then putting the LEDs behing the acrylic. Some companies make lights that are made to clear over too. I've seen these in roll pans and used as 3rd brake lights before. Or you could buy some Led pods take them apart and mold the housing to the fairing>Paint> then put the pods back together. If I'm confusing you or you decide you need some help LMK I'll come and give you a hand
