again, when you decide to start being mature. lemme know. I dont know you and likewise. I've taken the msf course whose you seem to have in your mouth constantly. ive ridden for a year and half, but the last person i need show off to is you

so label me a poser, but i didnt waste money on a 250 in which i would have turned around and sold. THEN, i would have bought another bike once i have gotten bored with the 250. Sorry dousch but im a college student who cant afford 2 bikes. So take that into account

how would he 'waste' $, we sold our 250 for $100 less then we paid, but what was taught on it was priceless. how much does it cost to fix a simple drop on a 600SS, alot more then $100

who said your were a poseur? i stated taking advice from a person w/ 1yrs experience or 7-8 or more, which makes more sense, you're the one getting all defensive.

and from way back, what makes a 600SS a good beginner bike?

btw, so how many miles did you rack up in your 1.5yrs?

Your telling me that a level headed 600 rider isnt responsible? Its more of a risk IF you use the power. As far as im concerned, a car can pull out/over a 250 as well as a r6. To hurt yourself with the power of a bike means you may not be as level headed as you might need to be.

Stop being the forum safety guru..its appreciated it, but dont cut down other peoples legit opinions.
Noting your disclaimer in the very first sentence, yet suggesting to not listen to the "critics", you are nevertheless saying a 600 is a better beginner bike than anything smaller; and yet, you have no idea who this person is, nor have you two ever met... where to for, you are only going by his personal opinion that he believes himself to be level headed. Almost anyone you ask will think themselves to be level-headed.

I won't suggest anything to someone I never met in person, whether my opinion be that he'll be ok starting on a 600 vs. something smaller, less powerful, or more forgiving.

well, defensive wouldnt be the right word. Im annoyed already about some other things, so my tolerance for bs is low right now. 250's are goin for that much these days. Congrats on YOUR personal experience, but not all 250s sale for anywhere near they are purchased for. congrats on your 7-8 years of experience, but i can go just as fast, lean as low, ride as long as you can dude. The only difference is that you've been doing it longer. Congrats

looking for a trackbike!!

If your looking for advice on buying a 600 for your first bike, it says that you are uncertain if you can even handle it.

Anyone that "should" have a 600 for their first street bike is very comfortable on motorcycles and competent with its controls + have the ability to set their ego to the side and not show off + not haul when they should'nt be hauling .
Everyone else that buys a 600 for their first bike ends up in the news, period.

In this case I would definitely not buy a 600 and would look into the new 250's they look pretty badass also. Anything and everything will happen on the road from dogs, gravel in the road, people pulling out,oil in the road , people running out into intersections (saw a guy on a gsxr almost lay his bike over earlier today because of this, but he was able to control it and save it). When you lay your gsxr over bc of a rookie move.......you will second guess your decision.

Bottom line: Its your life, and your huge wad of cash.

this is true, but i know that i was a level headed, then became progressivly more like a dumbass. I guess i should take back "dont listen to the critics" and im not saying a 600cc bike would be a great starter bike. Im coming from a limited budget. SO, i couldnt have bought a 250 and sell, then buy a bigger bike.

make sure to have health insurance and life insurance, and of course bike insurance straightened out.

i would hate for the state to have to fix you
for your parents to have to pay to bury you
and for you too lose your $ when (and chances are high toi) it gets stolen or wrecked.

BS, 250s resell for almost what you pay, so consider it a down payment on your SS bike.

for what its worth i bought my ninja 250 for 1400 and resold it for 2400.

a 250 is an investment that will always break even unless you total it.
