I just got my new HJC FS-15 a few days ago ($179 on Ebay). I was surprised how light it is and the vents and nosepiece do their job well. I don't have experience with the Scorp - but I'm very satisfied with the HJC. I like the look too - mine is the flat black. I am having trouble finding the mirror shield for it though. Anyone have a link?

They both fit, snug but not too tight. Enough for my face and head to form over time. So there I pay attention. I'm just more looking into the noise and fog issue. I've done some research on both through www.webbikeworld.com but was looking for some personal experience.

Dollar for dollar, nothing is even close to a Scorpion.

I'm a parts mgr at a dealership, so I typically change helmets once or twice a year. I've worn them all pretty much. My Shark is QUIET..... but it fogs which is my personal pet peve. HJC is a distant 3rd. If Scorpion hadn't kicked them in when they entered the market they would still be a wal mart quality helmet. They're getting better, but they're still constantly playing catch up.

I've been riding the past few nights when the temp was 45 or less. You still have to pop the shield open at a light, but even at low speeds, the vents really do the job and keep the shield clear, especially if you get into the habit of breathing out through your nose (the nose piece channels the hot air to the sides where it is drawn out by the vents). I went by the size chart and got a Med - the cheek pads are a little tight, but I'm sure they'll form down in time. As far as noise goes, I would rate it as a 7 of 10 - but still very good considering how light it is.

I've owned both HJC and Scorpions. Scorpion wins hands down as far as quality comfort and bang for the buck. Comes standard with a fog free shield that actually works. EXO-400 is a better bang for the buck compared to the 700. Plastic shell vs fiberglass, and marginally better venting on the 700 along with a higher price. But 90% of the time I still grab my RX-7, due to the fact that it's not intrusive at all and causes practically no neck strain over long rides.

noise: wear earplugs. regardless of what kinda helmet.

and each head fits the same helmets differently, so whats good for 1 may not be good for another.

and +1 to ARAI.

I've worn every helmet brand out there over the years, and as much as I like the Arai, nothing comes close to Suomy.

How much is your head worth to you? By the very best helmet you can. You want something that has a small shell, very light weight, good venting, and doesn't buffet when you turn your head.

I have the Scorpion exo700 Chamelion. I gotta say i love it. No fog issues good venting, and the noise aint bad. I frequently make 70-100mile trips and haven't had the urge to grab earplugs yet.

If i did have it to do all over again, I'd go for the EXO-1000. This is for the fact that my sunglasses are a pain to put inside. I have to remove the rubber grips on the Oakleys =/ Then when night comes, the trunk space isn't accomidating for the shades ya know... that little flip down internal sun shield is one of a idea.

The Shark Duhamel Mate Black is being sold for 299. Normally this helmet goes for 500.
I would say, take the offer and get one. Shark is really good brand and the R2S2 is Sharks top of the line, sort of the X-11 or XR-7.
