I've always thought Yamahas have been the ugliest bikes... The new R1 solidifies that.

I like the new R1..
And was going to buy one... but reality is a .
If I can pick up a clean 06 Gix for say $7500 vs $12395 for the new R1..
I picked up the 06 Gixxer.. The reality of how much useable power for the street vs an extra five grand still in my pocket?!
also I never a buy a "new"bike the first year (first year bug's).
As far as the frame recall on the 05-06 Gixxer's.. those are the bikes that are wheelied and stoppied all day long.. or 2 season's of hard track riding/racing, I'm not concerned about it.
Just buy what makes you happy or comfy... they are all fast!

565 rwhp Sounds like they would take me on a staight but I don't think they would if we added some curves in there.

Don't bet any money, Bill. A moderately well driven Z-06 in stock form, with sticky tires, would give you a helluva challenge even if you are driving well on a racetrack.

+1

I am partial to Kawasaki, but all of the liter bikes are pretty good. Go sit on them to see which one fits you better. If you want to try something different, look at the new Duc 1198.

Well I personally love the look of the new gixxer and looks are nothing to me without performance. If looks won races then I would by ducati, but since they arent competitive I race Japanese motorcycles. The 09 gsxr1k is lighter and infinatly more powerful than the new R1. Since i have always had traction control ie my right hand I dont need help from a feaux m1 crankshaft. The R1 while a great bike for people with money to make it more powerful all the power mods I can afford now are exhaust/ignition/powercommander/airfilter and the gixxer is the leader in that department.
