Helmet Lights?

My first response when I saw the advertisement is that it seems like a terrible idea...the only reason this interests me is that it has that skin-stripped-off-Terminator's-face-cyborgy appeal. I guess if a rider was thrown off in a ditch or some place with limited visibility, it might help first responders find him quicker.

The seller's repetitious caution "FOR SAFETY REASONS FIRST OFF... PLEASE DO NOT WATCH PEOPLE, WATCHING YOU, AS YOU RIDE BY" makes me wonder if mothers with baby-carriages and/or semi trucks would target fixate on me and be drawn inexorably into my path.

Anyone have 'em? Anyone have an opinion?

I've also seen these on EBay too. I'm wondering if they would effect your vision at night? In a dark smoke shield?

Target fixation....Like moths to a light

Excuse me? Wth you laughing ninja man? I learned that term during my track day lessons, and I used it appropriately. Keep it up, and I'll pay a pockmarked midget hooker to sneak in and paint your toenails with pink glitter sparkles.

No ma'am. I'm laughing about the fact that a mother and her baby carriage would target fixate on you. I know what the term means. I suppose I should have just wrote the whole thing out. My bad.

Seems like an extra unnecessary gimmick accessory.

I'm getting hooked up with an Akuma helmet and I decided on this one.

f1zbe1

The model I'm getting has some pretty cool features. . .

FEATURES

* Integrated rechargeable power system which powers LED's in the rear vents for higher visibility. Plus it's just way cool!
* Highly useful ultra bright led built into the front of the helmet. Useful for map reading, maintenance, or in any low-light situation. Light wherever you look. Not intended for use with visor down or while riding.
* Hypoallergenic, removable, & washable interior
* Chin-Curtain
* DOT & ECE 22-05 Certified
* Composite Fiberglass/Kevlar construction
* Superior airflow through 6 vents.
* Wind tunnel designed aerodynamic shape
* UV resistant clear-coat
* Includes wall charger for Power System

I ride all the time with camping style high output LED on my forehead. If it's within 2-3 inches of your eyes all you see is glare and dust particles whizzing by. Believe it or not, the LED's light up the air and obscure you vision, like high beams in a fog bank. If they are a little farther away from you eyes they work a lot better, even 4-5 inches away and they totally change. I think they would be against the law if they or blue, or if they are considered like KC daylighters on the top of a truck rollbar. The law has stipulations about where lights can be, number, spread....not that it really matters. I just think these are kinda goofy for anything except the cool factor as you parking lot pose.

WTF? People are stupid. When I saw on their site about those tags, All that went through my mind was "why would you want that?" I'd imagine it would smack your neck in the wind

For the most part. I'll find out when I get it. I'll probably take some high res pics with the helmet on the bike

I have an Akuma "airforce" model. It has the rear led's and the map light in the front. Nice helmet. One area of concern is the location and ease of connecting the recharge clip to the helmet. It never seems to be connected. Other than that great helmet. Gary, they run REALLY small I wear a SM Suomy, but needed a medium Akuma. Fair warning.

That's what I get for not reading the fine print

"Authentic miniature Remove Before Flight Keychain." Funny thing is, there's still gonna be a handful of people that will probably leave it on

Good info Joe, thanks. And the sizing is perfect for me cause I usually wear XS and they don't have XS.
