I never rely on my fuel light... I base it off mileage... I know that when I'm around 170miles, I need to start looking for the fuel station...

I would suggest filling up with gas before you run out

You can always visually checking the fuel level.

Many bikes have no low fuel light.

there has got to be a sender somewhere in the tank. look for some electrical wires attached to the bottom of the tank. maybe come unplugged?
On my v-max there is a small float in the tank that when it is at a certain spot it gives me the light and shuts down my fuel pump, i then hit a switch on the bars to turn fuel back on. bike will barely sputter if i catch it soon enought.
later

Do you have a wiring diagram in your owners manual, or online?

copy and paste it up on here; I dont have an 04 gsxr wiring schematic online.

look in the tank with a flashlight, you might be able to see a float, if it is stuck in the up position, push it back down with a stick or something.

ps: don't drop the flashlight or stick into the tank, that would be dumb
