Custom bars, custom mudflap delete, and I had a whole ton of stuff ordered that I hadn't put on yet, luckily.

I will go and get a full estimate I think, that sounds like a good idea. Then I can show it to the DA and hopefully they will be able to get me some money.

Want to know anything about stunting too? I've learn a lot about that recently too.

Sometimes I have a hard time trusting ebay... but I guess it's better than having a messed up bike.

Only like 4k miles. It took me forever to break it in because my work schedule was crazy at first and I went through a winter in MI where I couldn't take it out at all. Once I got back to warmer climates I dropped miles on it very quickly.

Thanks to anyone who kept an eye out for my bike or sent me a PM about it, etc... I really appreciate those who called with sightings etc, since it's not exactly a common bike to see.

Today HPD called me and informed me that while investigating another stolen vehicle, they recovered my bike from the individuals property. It had the ignition broken and was missing the plastics. It also had been dropped on its right side when they tossed it into the truck it was stolen in, and had a broken tail-light and possibly busted up handlebar. They found my plastics on his property, which is cool, and they have them with the bike now. They also asked me if I would testify in court if it came down to it, and I said yes.

Eight months after losing it... I never ever expected to get this call. I had just chalked it up to a loss. I still would go outside and look at the place I parked it in and would just get depressed. I would see guys riding past me on the freeway and feel so frustrated.

Now, at least I get something to work on for a little bit, and eventually ride again.

Here's a picture taken right before it was stolen...

Picture006 1

The sucky part is that I'm going to have to pay to get it out of the tow lot, and I'm broke as until pay day. Not to mention that with my girlfriend out of work, I'm generally broke as . I bet it will be like $150 just to get it back. Anyone have 650r parts for cheap?

Also, I think it is awesome that the BOTM is a Ninja 650r! How rad.
YEAH CONSIDER YOURSELF LUCKY MY FRIEND!!!!!

I called the tow lot, it's $206.40 LOL. Besides, I get paid Friday and my girlfriend is getting a 7k tax refund sometime between the 30th and the 3rd of February, so I should be good once that hits. I just hope they aren't charging me more every day or something.

Also, I already got an insurance quote from Tuan and that man is amazing. Cheapest insurance I could have possibly gotten in Houston. Hopefully that will get paid on Friday as well and then I can stop worrying about it.

Well now I contacted them today. It is now $270something to get it back. Apparently on the 3rd day they charge a $50 notification fee to send you a letter telling you your vehicle is at their lot.

This is such highway ****ing robbery. I just called my friend who works in the mayors office and he agrees with me. I may go sit before public session and state a case against this practice.

I mean, aren't there enough normal tow jobs that they shouldn't have to charge full price for a stolen vehicle recovery? In this case it should be discounted 50% or even waved based on the circumstances.

I asked the officer why it didn't get towed to a police impound for free and he had no answer. He also said that they tried to contact me when it was located and I could have picked it up on the scene for free, but they could not contact me. (I have a new cell phone) Instead they called my work and left a message. All they had to do was say "Hi, do you have Squared's cell phone number? We need to contact him right away or it is going to cost him a buttload of money!"

Instead they left a message and now are implying it was my fault for being out of contact with them. Cool beans.

Honestly, if my girlfriends tax return doesn't come in tomorrow, this is going to end up costing me $400+. I AM SO ****ING MAD RIGHT NOW.

man, I wish I had seen this thread earlier

you ALWAYS want to get a vehicle out of a tow lot ASAP, do whatever you have to do, go get that bike out NOW, worry about how much you had to pay later.

So true, those lots are ripp offs for the most part.
Also get it out asap, before more things go missing on your bike.
