Figured id introduce myself.....stumbled onto the site when it was linked from the WERA forum. names Ben, and i ride a 2006 GSXR-600 that i bought brand new 16k miles ago. I figured id sign up on here because ill be moving to houston in may after i graduate from college. currently live/go to school in northern maine. im looking forward to getting away from the cold/snow for a bit........just to give you an idea of the weather at the moment. it was -16 when i left for work this morning, and we have a forecast of 12-18" of snow tomorrow

Damm, I am nagging about the 35 degrees we will have tomorrow.

You'll like it here. Welcome to the site and Houston when you arrive.

What area are you planning to move to? And what type of riding do you fancy?

just started looking at places....ill be based (work wise) out of north houston i believe (im still trying to learn the different areas, i was in greenspoint (i think) when i was down there for my interview). but like i said, we are just starting to look for places.

as far as riding, i love cruising around with a spirited run up through the gears now and then, carving corners, and drag racing (only have an 1/8th mile track close). havent done a track day yet only because we dont have any road courses up this way.

I see. I live ten miles north of there in the Woodlands, a masterplan community. The Spring and OakRidge area are 100% nicer then GunsPoint, I mean Greenspoint. No offense, I dont mind that area but there are a few areas better ridden around then through.

From this area, we have the normal forest/3090 ride that is famous up here for twisties; TWS (Texas World Speedway) off the 3090 area for track, 1/8 mile 15 minutes away. Everything else is around 20-40 minutes away, including Baytown's 1/4 mile and 1 hour for GSS in TexasCity(track) and MSRH(track.)

If you would like some more information, I can share what I know about the area North of 1960 for apartments/houses etc. Just shoot me a PM.

thanks a lot man....and thats not the first time ive heard it referred to as Gunspoint. we were informed of the nickname when we got back to the hotel after walking up to the mall at night

figured since i was responding, id throw up a couple pics of my ride. dont have any current pics (since the addition of some parts) because its sitting covered up in the garage while the 3 feet of snow we have sits on the ground.

like i said before, its an K6 600, custom exhaust (built by a friend and myself), k+n filter, 520 conversion, blue DB screen, tinted blinkers, customgixxer graphics, and soon to have a pc3 with custom tune

Nice ride... cool paint scheme!

Houston fkn sucks in summer. Take a shower, walk to your car, and you'll be sweating before you've even turned the ignition...

How's Maine summer riding weather?

summer in maine is a lot like what im assuming your late fall/winter is like down there.....highs are usually in the 70's, gets up into the 80's for a couple weeks and then comes back down into the 70's. i can probably count how many days we got to 90 on one hand......

that being said, my bike sits dormant from about thanksgiving till mid march/april. i did ride a few weeks ago when it was about 5 degrees outside...dont think ill be doing that again for awhile.

thanks for the comments on the bike.....i love the blue and white.
