Yeah, I've heard that one and that the engineer or construction company eff'd it up is the other one I heard. I also heard that the construction company had to pay for the repave or fixes, but all of that is just what it is- rumors.

Yeah man, I remember that from before GSS was built. But jeez, that base and concrete has been there for over 60 years...

We'll see, I like the surface there, it'd be nice if it stuck around for a while.

Again though, TWS (Texas World Speedway)' owners are no noobs, I'm sure they have their ducks in the proverbial rows.

"The Wall" was nasty. It has claimed lives and countless serious injuries...i.e. broken pelvis, femurs, etc... I've actually seen one lucky expert go down in T-8b (T9 to you trackday guys) and while flipping/tumbling on the ground he bounced up and he and his bike cleared the wall. Crazy thing is that the guy was picking up bike parts before the crash truck even got to him. Glad to see the improvements. Next turns that need repaving are definately T5-T6, lots of crashes in there.

****NEW INFO****

i just got off the phone with Steve Mcnamara, the track was not re-paved, it was ground down and sealed with an adhesive sealer.

Steve spoke with track owners to discuss the re-surfacing issue is this is the information that he was given!

It's the cement patch in 4 that is so crazy slippery in the rain. I've seen cars driving so slowly through 4 that you'd think they were idling, and they'd still end up in the grass & mud. Crazy.

Good news.

They ground the pavement and got all the bumps out. The sealer used is abrasive and is like the sealer used at Hallett and ECR.

While the properties of it are not fantastic in the wet (as evidenced at almost every track in Texas), when it's relatively warm, it's all good. It's not like the sealer snakes in turn 1/2 (which are no longer a problem as they've cured). It's more abrasive than the sealer at the Mercedes Benz track, and more akin to the Hallett sealer compound. At Hallett, the track record was broken 3 times in one weekend AFTER they laid the sealer on almost every square inch of that track.

My bet is that when we visit in March, it's going to be fantastic!

I'll update everyone as more information comes out.

TWS (Texas World Speedway) surface.

The really good part of TWS (Texas World Speedway) is that the majority of the track was well paved with quality materials and a great base.
In the areas where it can be sanded for bumps and the remaining overlay be re-sealed it will be just like a re-pave.
TWS (Texas World Speedway) will be continue to make improvements and if you want to ride TWS (Texas World Speedway). Come see LSTD.
