Just go over some of your ideas with him and come up with your concept. I dunno... to me, a custom paintjob is a personal matter. If you're gonna personalize your bike, then I would think you'd feel alot better knowing its you that came up with the concept. But that's just me, I guess

Then depending on the outcome, you can either pat yourself on the back for an awesome design or only blame yourself if it doesn't quite look the way you expected!

I wouldn't be too concerned about whether someone may believe it was crashed, and thus the new paint. Take pics before and after, when it's at the shop. That, plus a clean title would suffice. But then it may become a question of whether any potential buyer likes the paintjob or not.
