wrecked my bike and have a question

I wrecked my bike (02 GSXR 750) back in December, it was the other drivers fault so I figured their insurance would take care of everything. I spoke to my lawyer this week and he told me to total it out they would give me $4,100 and if I wanted to retain ownership I would get $3,060 which I don't think is bad but he just told me that if I do retain ownership I would have to pay the storage fees which are $800+ does that sound right? She caused the accident so I thought they have to pay for that.

It sounds right if you want the bike back.

Whoever gets the bike out of storage is going to get stuck with the fees.

If the ins. co. gets it then they'll have to pay for it.

yep, don't quote me on this, but the storage facility has a lein on the bike, and i think it's up to you to pay that, since that was not caused by the wreck, just the damages were. Make sense?

Typically the insurance company pays the fees when a bike gets totalled, regardless of who retains the bike.
At least that's how it works at our shop.

don't agree with it, get your lawyer to get off his lazy and represent you, the accident was her fault and she and her ins. are responsible for ALL damages and fees period! they are trying to low ball you and get out of it cheap! remember she has the same limits on her ins as you and I do

Not sure if it works the same with bikes, but I know with cars that some insurance companies often offer less than what the car is worth when it is totaled and the adjuster may actually get a cut of that savings.
