Thread Tags

vBB offers the option to add "tags" to threads to make peoples searches easier. I was wondering what ya'll thought about this for those of you who use other forums that have this in place. Dino, what is your take on thread tags?

I think the majority of people will still just search.

Never found tags to be to useful myself.

I'm rarely ever on the forum I'm a member of that uses them. I've never personally used them but it seems they're more of a joke than anything else.

Generally sections like that are accompanied with some sort of paid subscription to ensure age, etc. Something I don't think we will ever have here at MH.

Say I made a how-to thread on posting pictures, I could include up to 4 tags(or whatever we set it at). I would put, posting pictures, photobucket, embedding as my tags, then folks could search those in a separate "tag search" and find my thread. If I didn't feel like posting tags, other members can always come in and post them for you. The downside to that is, some threads wind up with 30 tags, and it's usually PW threads with tags like "idiot, douche bag" you get the point.

Only other place I saw them used was *the other bike site in houston*. Looked pretty pointless and stupid IMO. Just do a search for whatever your looking for, seems it would be easier via search anyhow.

Tags are worthless. A true p0stwh0re could manipulate the search variables to find what he/she desires.

What we DO need is a [candy] (or is it [candie]?) tag where it...

Code:
[size=3][b][FONT="Comic Sans MS"][COLOR="Magenta"]
bigear
