Barber

I am considering taking a trip out to Barber sometime once the summer rolls around. Just leave here Friday morning or something and then ride a Saturday and Sunday, or whatever days it happens to be.

Tony, what group did you ride with when all of you went? Nesba or SBTT?

Trying to decide who would be best to ride with and pick out some dates.

Also, who would be interested in going and being able to cover their portion of the trip and a split of the gas?

Hey Brad, i think they didn't like what they used and said next time they will use NESBA, I am probably going to be doing a trip up there IF my confidence and pace goes back to at least where I was before the accident.

With that in mind I am thinking 6/27 & 6/28 with NESBA.

we rode with SBTT......their advanced group was stupid because it was really a "race only" group....which meant your bike must be safety wired and all.

it would've been okay normally, but i had just bought my gsxr at the time, and didn't have everything safety wired just yet. so needless to say, it was a pain in the to get it to their standards to ride in the advanced group. i think if we were to go again, it would be with NESBA. but then again, nesba's got a rule that you must sign up for the beginner class before jumping into advance or somethin like that. might wanna look it up and be sure.

i would be down to go again...but i think me and a couple guys are going to do the CCS race at barber instead of the trackday. keep us posted though, i'd definately hit up barber again this year either way.

here's a few costs to factor in and what we ended up paying...
10mpg @ $5gallon/diesel pulling a toy hauler - $800 round trip
new tires - $350 depending on ur pace....$550 (2 rears and 1 front)
fuel for bikes - $40/day @ $4gallon
museum/gift shop - $50
trackday cost - $250/day

so with gas split among 3 of us and all other individual costs, we spent around $1200-$1500 a person

Looks like the CCS race may be the best option. I think with NESBA you have to buy a membership and then go from there. Waiting to hear back more from them.

I am just not sure I could swing the August dates for the CCS race due to some other plans for September. If I happen to get banged up it could ruin some plans that were over a year in the making.

hmmm

Decisions....

Yes you do have to buy membership and its 75. I've ridden with them many times at Barber and have no issues very well run Org very safety oriented.

When I rode Barber with Nesba, you didn't have to start in Beginner. You did, however, have to start in INT unless you could present them with a race license.

They replied back to me on their forum with a similar response. Basically if you race as a novice you will be in Int. if you race and prove that you're an expert then you can ride in Advanced.

Wasn't implying anything.... Just don't have a group or team to ride with yet. I don't ride enough and haven't been around long enough to be a part of something like that I guess. Trackdays come as a luxury for me inbetween what pays my bills and the travel needed to get paid.

Maybe I'll try and tag along with someone's team one day.

Brad, when you hit Barber lemme know. I'll let ya borrow the GoPro camera. I'd like some first hand footage from there.

Good luck with the trip. It'll surely be a blast.

I was also debating on a barber trip, was going to pull the toy box, should be able to fit 4 bikes in trailer, has 3 beds, and room for air matress. Diesel is a little cheaper this yr then last, IF it stays the same.
