Honestly, as a dealer and a salesperson, I would have called you to make sure you were serious and truly coming before selling the bike to the other guy. Then got the other buyers information and told him that if anything fell through it would be his. I would call him in the morning either way to let him know. I have been in this situation myself. It sucks.

This is true...

unless....

it was another salesman working on the same bike... then it's going to go to the first signature...

it really sucks that it works like that... but you have to look at it from all angles when buying (think of the salesman having to pay bills-along with the dealership wanting to make money)... in any business

That's true, but when it comes down to it, a good dealership communicates and they all understand. We use a tag on the vehicle that states "contract pending" that way if there wasn't time to communicate the next guy in sales can see it and ask around for the details. As for pricing and wich deal has the most money, that's simple, be fair, if i make one guy a deal, i give everyone the same deal. Of course it can't always be a perfect world, but we should at least try.

The issue is the bike was sold! I can get a PO sent to the CU and its a done deal. I could have left with the bike with a call to the CU saying its done. I have done this many times. I would then go to the CU and sign the paperwork a couple of days later if I want too. I did it with my last truck purchase. I told him it was sold and they sent the PO to the bank. Why would I give a deposit on a bike that as far as I was concerned was paid for. One call and it was done. They called at 3 and I told them I would be there. I told them I had ins. We made the deal at 5pm yesterday I had the PO sent to the bank at 9 A.M. today and I was there a little before 4. You car dealers don't have to take my side. He did admit I was an exception to the rule. But my word is my word. I expected the same from them. I'm sorry your jobs makes you guilty of the same behavior as I have discussed here.

Call it what you will, I'll leave it alone. That's just how we do business here.

One more thing. I am not surprised by the supporters of this kind of sales. We have heard many accounts of shady dealings from at least one of you. And the same has gone so far as to brag about customers over.

I feed my family well. And I do it as an inspector. I have to be honest and tell people they have to spend tons of money to fix their chit. They dont want to hear and and would gladly pay me to say it's all good. There are lives at stake and I have to be honest. It can be done. Money can be made without being a scum bag.
