legitimate question....feedback inside.

okay before you guys lock my thread or ban me...which i don't care either way....

if vortex was to become a sponsor on here....am i not allowed to mention let's say....woodcraft?

or someone can put vortex, woodcraft, leo vince, yoshi, etc under their sig.....but what happens if one of them becomes a sponsor? are you going to go around and delete their sigs if they list anything else?

as LEGITIMATE feedback to this forum, and a reason why I am no longer a sponsor on here......and i hate to put this out in public chris, but I think you, the mods, and every sponsor on here should see my OPINION....and just so you know, there are MANY others who share the same opinion....

This site has become a chat room (post war) more than an informational forum run by communists.....with little or almost nothing to do with motorcycles, because everything said relating to motorcycles has a conflict with a sponsor in one way or another.

hey, it's your forum, and it's hard to make choices that won't make people happy.....but MH took a and someone's gotta clean it up.

Mention yes, put in your sig? no. Its in the Rules Tony. How hard is it to follow rules? When you were a sponsor, you PAID to advertise, would have been if I let some other paint shop on for free right? In fact, I REMEMBER deleting some paint shop out of Santa Fe because they came on and spammed the board. There is a difference between mentioning a business, and "trying to advertise" for them. And we know that difference.

so i can mention their name....or even make a post about it.....but i can't put it in my sig right? i just want to be sure. not being a smartass about it chris, you still my brotha from anotha motha. i'm just trying to clear it up....

and even when i was a sponsor, i had absolutely NO problem about other people posting up bikes or cars or whatever that they got painted somewhere else, even if they put the shop's name and address....referred them on a post.....i never made ONE complaint, because i didn't care.

i was a sponsor on here to HELP keep the forum on high grounds as most other sponsors are also.....ask some of these people what i charged them for paint.....and each bike i paint cost me at LEAST $150-$200 in supplies...we're not even talking about labor yet either......i wasn't in it for the money. i enjoyed MH, and i enjoyed painting motorcycles.....i just hate to see MH go downhill.

maybe i'll be a sponsor later....but , my racing career is gonna be pricey this year. i gots to think about me now.

So just to clarify, we are allowed to mention whoever we want, but not allowed to mention them in our signature. Is this correct?

Its always up to our discretion. BUT.

You can say things like "I bought my sprocket from X, and felt a got a good deal."

However,

saying something like "Go to X, they are awesome, best service around etc."

is frowned upon and will most likely be deleted.

plain and simple, DONT ADVERTISE for someone.

I'm gonna have to agree with you on that one. . .and that's one of the main reason I don't post here as much as i used to. We used to share information for the sake of helping others instead of just pointing them to a forum sponsor and kissing . For those who don't realize it, there are many members here who want to learn from others experience instead of throwing money down the drain on simple cycle related issues. I remember when the mods(powers that be) made the signature rule and I was asked to change my signature or submit to the banhammer. . .I was simply trying to help others by offering a number to call and ask questions or a place to stop for help before/after forest rides. I've worked on several MH members bikes in the parking lot of my past employer without ever wanting a dime, I did it b/c i love sharing my wealth of knowledge with those who are willing to teach themselves something. Those days have long gone around here, and a lot of that can probably be traced back to someone else's greed. . . It's not like anyone was coming all the way to Conroe just to see me and get parts anyway Maybe that's why a lot of the Motohouston OG's rarely come to this place anymore. . .it's just not the same.

that sounds pretty stupid, and trying to limit "our" input. there is not only 1 good "shop" in town and they are all not sponsors. and telling others about it is part of the motorcycling community. and what if a sponsoring shop is not within a reasonable distance, should we just keep our mouths closed.........

wow, you completely do not understand the concept here.

if someone were to say hey where can I go on the SE side to get a part for my bike, and someone chimed in said, hey go to Galveston Honda(not a sponsor) This is fine(unless we find out they are deliberately doing this to advertise for GH.

What we dont want, is someone making a thread SPAMMING for a shop/business. Plain and simple.

is it really that hard to compute?

ok so if we were talking about getting an oil change i can say

"last time i went to JIM BOB's (not a sponsor) and i liked my experience"

but i cannot start a thread saying

"jim bob's got an oil change special for this much! go there"
