James,

Hey it's Juan,

Man, so was this on a ride this Saturday? I had a blowout on the car Friday night and was headed to the VW dealership on 290 Saturday morning and I saw a couple bikes at the gas station at Jones.

Was the person that went down ok?

We ran in the marathon on Sunday so I wasn't tring toget out on Saturday, but I will be ready to go next Saturday.

Alright hope the rider is ok and they'll be back on two wheels in no time.

If it just bodywork and fairing stay, he will probably be ok...if it got anything else like the wheels/forks/radiator/engine covers ETC....they will total it.

Glad he is ok.
Could we get a list of bikes that DO crash well?

Peer pressure, ego, can't afford to buy another bike anytime soon, etc. I know quite a few that have had theirs for years with no incident, but that list is small. evobusa7 has had his for over a year without any major mishaps (I don't think), and I know another guy that has the same thing. I also know a lot of guys that realized that they bought WAY too much bike to start out and down-sized. The only trick is to 1) respect the power, 2) don't buy during a testosterone overdose, 3) take the MSF course and 4) don't let someone talk you into riding beyond your means. This is only my opinion from 25 years of riding.

I was on the ride as well. He claimed that this was his 5th bike but I could not tell you if that was fact or fiction. In speaking with him, it was evident that he knew virtually nothing about ZX14's (most owners research and learn about thier bikes) and his was bone stock. He was a nice guy that simply wrote a check his could not cash. Rather than slow down, I imagine that pride and bravado took over and I witnessed the aftermath. My partner who started this thread saw the whole wreck unfold. At least he was not hurt. The pictures do not do justice to the damage.
I am not a mechanic but the frame and forks looked straight so it is fixable... it would make one bad naked bike!
