CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON! NO THROTTLE???

When my check engine light comes on I have no throttle, I shut the bike off and re-start, everything runs normal, when the light comes back on, I have no throttle, everything stays running in idle, just no throttle. Other than it being a Yamaha, lol, does anyone have any suggestions?

The bike idles at 7 mph I know this because I left Starbucks at 11:00p and got home at 2:30a. I live approx 22 miles from the Starbucks. It reminded me of the Dumb and Dumber scene when they were on the moped driving on the high way with all the traffic behind them, was funny just wanted to share…

Thanks Steve

The bike prolly thinks it's overheating or could overheat above idle. A web search should help you figure out if its a bad temp or oil pressure senser.

GL

On the upside, that's a good way to get more seat time, I'll have to tell the wife that's what happened to me next time I roll in at 2:30.

no throttle

Yamaha is supposed to have a recall on the throttle positioning switch for the 07 R6. This is according to Tech friend of mine who has replaced many. It probably applies to all fly-by-wire . The same thing happened to my son's R6. It was out of warranty by 1 month. So out of the goodness of their heart they only replaced the part, labor was about $200.

It's probably a warranty issue with Yamaha.
There's been NUMEROUS issues with the R1 TPS as well as several ECU issues.
While we can work on it for you, your best bet is to bring it to Yamaha and have them do it under warranty (free).

If its a recall, its covered by the manufactorer.

Otherwise, since you are out of warranty its out of pocket.
