Good luck to everyone who decides to go out and run their bike or car at the Texas Mile though!

The Texas Mile has no trouble selling out all its spots at least a month before every event.... They only let 160 participants enter at this point..... Rumor has it that in the future, they may start running on two strips simultaneously, that will be kick .....Just a rumor though...

Marie, have yall switched over to World Wide bearings yet in the wheels?(ceramic)... Yall need to put a 1397 kit, cams and a head on that thing so you can hit 200...

We talked to World wide last year. I am going to sell some posters and maybe some calenders to try and raise the $$$ for bearings.
As for the two strips thats not a rumour it's a definite possibility. I talked with the promoters in Oct and they said that due to the fact that they sell out every slot there is a space for more racers. The thing is they don't want to take away from the track time that is now available to racers by taking more entries. In order to run 2 strips one for cars and one for bikes they would have to double everything staff equipment safety etc etc so they decided they have to have more entries to do that but if the number of entries increases,,,

Bring that Duc out! I'm thinking about taking our RC51 just to see what it will do. If we have time I might have SRAD put on the Power Commander and retune it, to see what it will do.

I,m not sure how the Duc would do at a event like this, the Busa would definately be a better choice, very stable at high speed and much better wind protection, the 1098 is more of a track bike, but I sure it would what almost every other liter bike would, have been up against several it more than holds its own

We ran a roll on between my 06 GSXR750 and the RC51 and the first 3 gears it was pulling away from me but over 140MPH I started reeling it in pretty quick. Of course thats when SRAD rolled out when he saw me coming!
I don't expect big numbers from it but it might be fun just to see what it will run.

Hey everyone
We have been promising a wheel balancer for a few weeks, well here it is.
This was built from scrap. Left over 2" X 4" pieces, a few cut pieces of channel a few scrap brackets and some junk bearings.
I realize Harbor Freight sells one for $50 and it's nicer but times are hard and $50 is alot of money. Bearings came out of old Alternators that SRAD scraps at work(stripped for aluminum and copper) But skateboard bearings would work just as well. Scrap wood was framed up to be square and level then screwed together with Drywall screws. Next the angle brackets were screwed to the top
With 3.5" screws. Next step is bolting on the bearing carrier which is just something SRAD found 2 of in the scrap bin and drilled to fit.
Lastly the bolts that the bearings run on are duplicated in several lengths so that different widths of wheel can be done. Extra bolts and bearings are stored below.
If you never used one of these it's pretty simple just spin the wheel when it comes to a stop put a small amount of lead Top dead center. Spin again, when it stops adjust with more or less depending on where it stops. If it stops with the weight at the bottom them you added to much.
Anyway here's a short clip of the balancer and the Mile. You know March is coming up pretty quick!

Hey all!
I've been missing for a while so here's the quick catch up:
We have been building a new Motorcycle Shop in the backyard ourselves(saved about2K doing ourselves) I got a ride on an 08 which SRAD had to prep and then like 2 days before the mile he had to have a tooth pulled so'''

:BangHead:OMG!
So we got off to a late start Friday, 5pmish which means arriving around 11pm. SRAD is still refusing to take ANYTHING for pain after haveing his tooth pulled(Doesn't want pain pills taking the edge off of the thought process)After Midnight when everyone got to sleep.
Well Saturday brought a new beginning! Perfect weather cool dense air with low humidity all three of the Bikes were running great!
Our friend Von who has been working closely with SRAD to prep his bike for the Mile went looking to run a 175MPH.
Imagine his elation when he rolled off the Trailer to the track and ran a 179MPH! AND, when I rolled in with a 17MPH and his smile got even wider!
Don't get me wrong we are friends and NOT competitors but I think it was like a little double shot of pride for him, faster than expected AND faster than the HeavyBus.
Well he came back with a 183MPH to my 178MPH and more smiles.
At this point SRAD pulled me aside and told me to stop messing around and get down to business. SO,
I went out the next round and laid down a solid 191.428MPH.
When Von came back with a 185.675 his smile was even bigger until he asked what I ran. :
Silly Boy!
Well the next run brought my best pass of the day 192.176MPH!
one pass later Von came back with a 190.884MPH! Very impressive for a first time LSR and for a bike with Stock internals. I felt pretty comfortable with the numbers and made the move to our friends 08 Busa. Hugo couldn't find leathers or get entered in time so he asked me to ride his bike. SRAD spent a few days going over it checking things and race prepping it so we could run it.
Straight off the trailer on a sitting up shakedown run it ran 171MPH. I was amazed at how much smoother and cleaner the 2nd Gen Busa feels at speed. Not nearly as much wind beating on me!
Well each pass got smoother faster and I launched a little harder each time.
176MPH
Back to the Pits and the guys pulled the mirrors and the Mufflers,
181MPH
182.399MPH.
182MPH on a bone stock Bike! Faster than I ran on the HeavyBus in October! There were a few more passes to be made on Saturday evening but I was pretty tired by this point. So we called it a day and headed to the room.
Well we had more fun. Seems the wireless card in my laptop wouldn't see the Hotels wireless net. And then to top things off my laptop couldn't read the GoPro onboard cameras video signal! Thus no live updates.
Sunday brought great air and 15MPH+ headwinds. So speeds were down quite a bit with no higher speeds.
There was however one new surprise.
Since I began this adventure I have tested in all kinds of winds , West Texas in known for it's high winds. I tested @175MPH with a 25mph cross wind. What I NEVER and I mean NEVER experienced before was wind shear. on two of my run the wind was crossing the track at an angle(Headwind + sidewind) So I was running in the 180's with the bike leaned pretty far over to the left to counter the wind pushing against it. All of a sudden the it jerked HARD to the left and before I could countersteer it jerked hard back right! In just a second or two it was over. I was pretty shcked to say the least and pretty intimidated until Von came in complaining of the same. I happened once more then it was gone. Pretty scarey to say the least.
Well that's the quicky version of the weekend here's the Video SRAD put together for me.
