Spark Plugs Bad?

Ok so I got in a lil accident back in the end of October and I took the bike to a dealership to have the fairings replaced and whatnot. The bike has been sitting there since early November. I go there today and find out the bike is complete but there was some issues. The battery was found to be dead(I guess after sitting so long), so they replaced it (warranty), then they tell me I they had to replace the spark plugs because it still wouldn't fire up. After they were replaced it started just fine, mind you the bike is a 2008, with 8, miles on it. Does anyone know why the plugs would be needed to be changed so early on even if it was sitting for only a month and a half? Oh and I brought the bike in in perfect running condition.

were they thinking it was rusted up or something?

that's news to me. I have a 600 I start about once every three months and I never clean the carbs let alone replace spark plugs.

If they're replacing this stuff under warranty, what's the big deal? As long as you get it back running the way it did, why worry about it?

Now, if they're charging you for it, I'd want to see the plugs to see why they think they need to be replaced.

Never heard of something like that. I would check your plugs the next time you pull them and see how they look. Even though it's an 08 there could be something wrong with the ignition or engine.

Man, I must be misunderstanding things here, or there is a lot more to the story. If they're not covering it under warranty, who authorized them to do the work?

Again, who authorized the work?

There is more to this story methinks.

if he didn't authorize it, all he has to do is tell them he's not paying the bill and they have to eat it, especially if they thru the old plugs away. however, if they did not throw them away, i would ask them to let u look at them.
