bike exhaust on a car?

Was just randomly thinking about this the other day and wondered others thoughts on it. I have a extra older two brothers slippon and thought about putting it on my lil' Jetta. Have no other use for it really so why not, it just sits in the garage.

Has anyone heard cars that have a sportbike pipe on it? Does it sound good or no?

idk but I doubt it would effect much backpressure or hp. The average yoshi, two brothers, jardine or whatever bike exhaust is the same concept as a chrome muffler you see on every civic in Houston from pepboys. Straight through free flowing exhaust.

believe it or not Akrapovic makes exhausts for both cars and bikes.

Do it and make a sound/video clip!

you haven't heard a real tuner then have you. My last integra I had sounded amazing had a RSR exhaust from japan on it. The only time the 4cyl. Sound crappy is when they take and straight pipe it all the way to the muffler. If you leave a nice resonator in there it really mellows it out and makes it sound good.

$50 ebay fart cans = retarded and annoying that likely hurts performance more than it helps
Real exhaust on a tuner = sounds great and actually gives a performance boost

yes I have. the drone bothers me.
it's your car, you may do with it what you please.

I built a d16 '99 civic with ITB's & used a moroso spiral-flow muffler where the factory resonator was & straight piped it back with a resonator tip, sounded good running through the gears, but bitched while cruising... sorry buddy, rice makes music.

At least once a week some ricer pulls up next to me and drowns out my radio with his exhaust. Soon as the light turns green I always see them disappear in my rear view mirror. It's all bark and no bite.

you would need to measure the I.D. of the vehicle exhaust at the muffler.

the I.D. of the resonating chamber of the muffler should not be too much smaller(I'd say allow as small as a 1/4" smaller only.) It will be loud, since the resonating chamber design only softens vibrations from the pulses as they create drag across the resonating chamber holes and are absorbed by the fiberglass.

If the engine size isn't close to the same, and the exhaust actually fits(not too large on the muffler) the fiberglass will be burnt out quickly.

Best bet would be to sell it and buy something for the VW... cuz A+ for innovative thinking, but anyone would laugh at a sportbike muffler sticking out a good 8" from the rear of a car.

The ID is the sms ad the stock piping. And if I do it it will tuck under the bumper only the very tip will stick out like .5" maybe.

it cant hurt that much to just try it out. i had a friend that had welded an aftermarket bike slipon onto the end of his exhaust pipe and it was pretty sweet. this was on a miata. 1.6 liter i think. i believe this was from a cbr, cc unknown to me.

we have some pretty nice exhaust clamps that hold two joining exhaust pipes together w sealable clamps(tightened by 16mm nuts) so the pipes can be interchangeable. However they run a little large in size(guessing off the top of my head, like a 2-3" O.D.
