I would like to see lane splitting legalized also. But I do have to think, would there be more accidents due to some taking more risks?

yeah, that letter is way too inflamatory.

but to try and say that banning cell phones while driving is not a worthy cause, and then to try and lump "bikers" in with these other "undesirable" groups is just working directly against your stated goals.

you do know what the word "unify" means, right?

Coming from California, splitting lanes was one of the best things about commuting on a bike. I felt a lot safer. I tried it a few times in Texas and everytime someone purposely tries to hit me. Even if it was legal in Texas I would not do it until the mentality of the cagers changed with the law.

+1 on that. There would be some cagers out there that would be ignorant of the law that would honk and whine till someone told them it was legal.
